Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp would like to see Ledley King handed a new contract.
King has not started Spurs's last two League matches and Redknapp revealed today the defender, who has chronic knee problems, is likely to need more surgery this summer.
"He was doing so well but he took a bad knock during training two months ago and his knee has not been right since then," Redknapp said. "For the sake of the club he has tried to play on but he has been playing in pain and his movement's not been as good. Hopefully, we'll get his knee cleared out in the summer and he will be right again.
"I'm sure the chairman respects everything he has done for the club and we'd love to keep him around."
