Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he'd love to find another William Gallas-type in the January market.
Redknapp feels his squad still lacks vocal leaders.
Redknapp admits he would give his right arm for a no-nonsense defender in the mould of England hard men Tony Adams, John Terry or Jamie Carragher.
He said: “If we could find someone, a leader, who would make a big difference to us then I know the chairman would do it. But it’s hard to find somebody who would change the place and be a bit of a leader.
“You just want someone who can give you that little lift. You’re always looking for that sort of person.
“We’re a very quiet team. We haven’t got any players you would call leaders. But where are those people? They’re just not around.
“There used to be loads of characters but not any more. It’s modern life, I suppose."
