Tottenham boss Redknapp: I will take winning Premier League over Champions League

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp would take winning the Premier League over the Champions League.

In his column for The Sun, Redknapp explained: "Jose Mourinho once said that you don't have to be the best team to win the Champions League.

"You can't be European champions with a bunch of no-hopers but he does have a point.

"My Tottenham team are enjoying a pretty special week having come from behind to beat Arsenal in the league at their ground, then to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.

"It's all hypothetical of course at the moment and there's no guarantees we'll win anything this season but, if given a choice this morning over which title I'd rather win, I'd have to go for the Premier League, although either one would do!

"And it's precisely for what Jose says. Inter Milan won the European Cup last season but I don't think they were the best team in the competition.

"Barcelona were pretty special but just as you can have a stroke of luck in the cup, you can get a bad deal too.

"But to go from August to May, through 38 gruelling, punishing, exacting matches against teams chock-full of the best players in the world, now that needs more than good fortune."
