Tottenham boss Redknapp: I know all about England pressure

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp knows the pressure is enormous when it comes to the England job.

The Spurs chief is aware of the pressures that come with managing your country.

He said: "As England manager, you know what is coming.

"There have been a lot of great managers in charge of the country and when someone like Capello finds it hard going, it has got to be hard going.

"No one likes personal abuse, do they? You don't want it if you can help it. Managing England has certainly been a very difficult job for everybody. Even people like Bobby Robson — I know he got England to the semi-finals in 1990 but Bobby got some stick before that.

"And look what happened to Graham Taylor and people like that. It is not an easy job is it?

"It has to be the ultimate job for an Englishman — but you have to understand what a tough job it is.

"No one has a magic wand and the list of top-class managers who have all gone in full of hope — people like Kevin Keegan — have all found it very, very difficult. It's certainly not an easy job."
