Tottenham boss Redknapp hits out at Blackburn over Ince sacking

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp was unhappy to see Paul Ince sacked by Blackburn Rovers.

Ince lasted 17 Premier League games at Ewood Park and has been replaced by Sam Allardyce.

"I was disappointed to see Paul Ince go and think it is totally unfair," said Redknapp. "What time has he had? A couple of bad results and he is out.

"In the summer he was a great manager, now he is not a great manager if results don't go right. They have had a few injuries and have got some good fixtures coming up where he could have turned it around.

"People have to be strong and the chairmen have to be strong. They bring the manager in and they should back him.

"Incey would have turned it around and he would have got them up to a respectable position in the league. He just needed time and obviously wasn't given time."

Redknapp feels a foreign manager would have fared no better than Ince.

"We always end up giving young English managers a job where they are coming into a struggling team," Redknapp added.

"They never get a chance to manage one of the top clubs.

"If you put a foreign manager into one of the struggling teams and see how strong they are? They have not exactly torn up too many trees.

"People have got to be brave enough to give them the opportunity. He did it right and started at the rock-bottom, that is no disrespect to Macclesfield, but he went to a team who were bottom of the league and did fantastically.

"He went to MK Dons and then got a chance which he dreamed of managing in the Premier League and in the matter of a few months he is now out of work. I think it is unfair and Incey has got a lot to offer. Hopefully he will bounce back again."
