Tottenham boss Redknapp happy for Gallas to go du-lally at Birmingham

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is happy for skipper William Gallas to continue to turn du-lally as he returns to St Andrew's.

Gallas prepares to return to Birmingham City with his new club for the first time since his meltdown with Arsenal.

Redknapp, who made Gallas skipper three matches ago for Spurs' victory over Arsenal, said: "That showed how upset he was.

"He could have walked in the dressing room and thought, 'Ah well, put my headphones on. Where are we going tonight, lads? What club are you going to in the West End?'. He was sick, he was gutted, and that shows that he cares.

"You need that, but you cannot give that to people. Some people have got it. Look at Jamie Carragher last week. He had dislocated his shoulder and was in agony. He was walking off the pitch with the physio and saw that the sub [Sotirios Kyrgiakos] wasn't ready. He has given the fella so much stick and is now walking back on to the pitch - his only concern was the team.

"Anyone else would have been straight down the dressing room and not worried about the game. He was worried about the sub getting on before he got off.

"William has a bit of that in him. It is not easy to find people like that. You need people who, whatever they are doing, want to win.

"Chelsea have had that with John Terry and Frank Lampard; that will to win over the past few years. William has come in and given us that. He has been great for us, absolutely brilliant."
