Tottenham boss Redknapp: Gomes teeth will be OK

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits Heurelho Gomes suffered a nasty whack to his teeth during last night's Carling Cup victory over Liverpool.

Tottenham's Brazilian goalkeeper was hurt in an accidental 69th-minute clash with Liverpool's Swiss midfielder Philipp Degen.

The game was held up for SIX MINUTES while medics treated the injured stopper on the pitch before he was replace by Cesar Sanchez.

But Spurs manager Harry Redknapp was able to reveal later that Gomes, 27, was not as badly injured as first feared.

Redknapp said: "Gomes has done his teeth but he'll be able to go out for a Chinese afterwards. He should also be OK to play at the weekend.

"Goalkeepers have always had injuries. I've seen them with worse. They dive at people's feet so they're going to get injuries at times.

"It was just a bang in the mouth. This isn't that bad an injury."
