Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp was full of praise for Scott Parker in England's victory over Denmark last night.
Redknapp admits he tried to sign the West Ham United ace in January.
He told The Sun: "Scotty could provide England with an answer to the Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard argument about if they can be effective together.
"If Scott plays in the midfield holding role, it would free Frank and Stevie G to get forward and do some damage.
"Those two would be able to support Rooney up front by playing further forward if Capello ever wanted to play with a diamond formation. Parker has showed international football is not a problem for him. He is an effective no- frills player who gets on with the job of breaking up attacks and winning the ball.
"I don't know why Parker has had to wait so long for an England breakthrough. Hopefully this time he will make the cut to play at the Euros."
