Tottenham boss Redknapp eyeing Sunderland wing-back Richardson

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is planning an end-of-season move for Sunderland wing-back Kieran Richardson.

The London Evening Standard says Redknapp is known to admire the 26-year-old and will need to strengthen his options for wide midfield as both David Bentley and Niko Kranjcar are likely to leave.

It is Richardson's versatility - he is able to play in every position in midfield and at left-back - which makes him an attractive option.

He has two more seasons left on his Sunderland contract and the idea of joining Spurs is believed to interest him, especially if they qualify for the Champions League again.

Richardson was a junior at West Ham United when Redknapp was in charge.
