Tottenham boss Redknapp delighted with hat-trick hero Bent

Darren Bent produced a superb hat-trick for Tottenham in last night's 4-0 thrashing of UEFA Cup opponents Dinamo Zagreb.

Bent found his chances limited last season but has seized his opportunity following the departure of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane - and now has more goals this season than those two put together.

"He's done well," Redknapp said.

"This is the first time I've worked with him, he has a good attitude and works hard at his game.

"It's a terrific return getting nine goals and hopefully he can keep going.

"I think we have three strikers who can do the job. There's competition for places up front. Darren and Roman (Pavlyuchenko) are both scoring goals and Fraizer Campbell showed terrific enthusiasm when he came on."

Bent stole the limelight from Luka Modric, who was facing the club he left in the summer for £16.5million.

The Croatia midfielder nevertheless was pulling the strings as a support striker, while Tom Huddlestone had a hand in all three of Bent's goals and added a stunner himself.

"Modric is a fantastic footballer that you have to play," added Redknapp.

"People thought he wouldn't be strong but he's stronger than I thought he was. He's not a weakling, he challenges for balls. He is a terrific player."
