Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp was delighted with Michael Dawson's performance in their 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
Dawson played for the first time in more than three months.
Revealing he was forced to turn to the defender after William Gallas tore a hamstring in training on Friday, Redknapp said: "He did great; he's just a fantastic competitor."
Younes Kaboul may return next week from a hip problem but Wilson Palacios could now be sidelined with an ankle injury suffered today.
