Despite losing five players and bringing in just one on the final day of the transfer window, Harry Redknapp is happy with his Tottenham Hotspur squad.

Peter Crouch, Wilson Palacios (Stoke City), Alan Hutton (Aston Villa), Jermaine Jenas (Villa on loan) and David Bentley (West Ham United on loan) all departed White Hart Lane yesterday whilst Scott Parker was the only arrival for £5million from West Ham.

But Redknapp was content with his group of players and was mainly delighted to keep hold of Luka Modric who had been heavily linked with London rivals Chelsea for much of the market.

“I am delighted that Luka Modric is still here. The chairman stood firm and I hope he will go on to have a great season for us,” he said.

"We are strong in the middle of the park now. Scott Parker has arrived, Sandro is getting fit and we also have Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore.

"It is great to have both of last year's footballers of the year here at Tottenham in Gareth Bale, who was the PFA Player of the Year, and now Scott Parker.

"Scott is exactly what we need. He is a good character and an excellent professional with a great attitude. He will be fantastic for us both on and off the pitch."
