Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says Sol Campbell should never have gone to Notts County.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says Sol Campbell should never have gone to Notts County.

In his column for The Sun, Redknapp wrote: "Just about every football fan has been left stunned by Sol Campbell's Notts County exit.

"He has opted to quit the club after just one game. But the biggest shock was the fact he ever went there at all.

"There is no way in the world Sol should ever have been playing in League Two. He's far too good for that level.

"And you can bet that thought was going through his head when he made his Magpies debut in their 2-1 defeat at Morecambe at the weekend.

"Even at 35-years-old, Sol is still good enough to play at the top level for a few more seasons.

"He's a world-class international and I suspect he simply didn't want to be dragged down to the level of the honest but limited players competing in the Football League's lowest division."
