Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is lining up a bid for Blackburn Rovers fullback Stephen Warnock.

The Mirror says Spurs spies have been on England cap Warnock's trail in recent weeks although he has switched between defensive and midfield duties.

Redknapp will have money to spend in January although Rovers would want at least £5million for the defender after successfully seeing off Newcastle's interest in him last summer.

Spurs have been using Benoit Assou-Ekotto at left back but their interest in Warnock also raises questions about Gareth Bale's long-term prospects at White Hart Lane.
