Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has thrown down the gauntlet to Giovani dos Santos.
Despite being on loan last season, Giovani was a World Cup hit, earning acclaim from many international bosses.
He was the only threat as Spurs crashed 4-1 against Villarreal on Thursday but Redknapp still has his doubts.
He said: "If he gets his head right and works hard he has outstanding ability - but it's up to him.
"I've told him to get fit, stay fit and he could have a big season here. He can be a top player if he wants. It's whether he has the dedication and the desire. He lacked that in the past but hopefully he'll get his head right and show what he can do."
