Tottenham boss Redknapp admits King gamble could mean Man City absence

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is unsure if Ledley King will be fit for their Champions League showdown with Manchester City.

After victory over Bolton Wanderers, Redknapp was asked by the media afterwards if he considered resting King with Wednesday's huge game at City in mind.

As it turned out, both Ledley and Michael Dawson were outstanding as we kept another clean sheet at the Lane.

"I've been down this road before where people think you'll just turn up and smash a team like Bolton," Redknapp told the Spurs website. "As I said, it just doesn't work like that.

"There was no point in me resting players. We needed to be at our best to keep a clean sheet and we had to win this game first and worry about Wednesday when it comes around.

"If Ledley can play Wednesday, great, if not Sebastien Bassong will come back in and he's a top player as well."
