Tottenham boss Juande Ramos insists he's unconcerned facing a motivated Jermain Defoe tomorrow.

It will be the first time he has faced his former striker Defoe since flogging him to Portsmouth in January for £7.5million.

But the Spaniard insists he is more concerned with trying to lead Tottenham to their first top-flight victory of the season.

He said: "I don't know if Defoe has improved since going to Portsmouth. I don't see the games so I can't comment. I am only thinking about Spurs, the team, the players.

"I can't even think about Portsmouth. They have a manager to deal with their problems. I focus all my attention on Spurs. If Spurs play OK, we will win. If not, lose.

"It doesn't matter how Portsmouth line up, if Spurs play badly we will lose. It is only possible to win if Spurs play their best football. My job is to make sure Spurs have the best form. I can't look at other teams and forget about my own players. At the moment my attention is on Spurs.

"Because we are not playing so well at the moment I can't concentrate on anything else other than my team.

"I can't think about the problems from other teams. In our situation, the questions are all about my team and how they are playing. I'm not worried about Portsmouth losing their last two matches 4-0 and 6-0. My problem is Tottenham and why we don't win at Tottenham.

"We are committing bad errors and that's why we are losing."

Given Tottenham's current position and the summer sales of Robbie Keane to Liverpool and Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United, the decision to sell Defoe seems as shrewd as appointing a former Wimbledon manager as boss of Newcastle.

But Ramos said: "When Defoe was here we had Robbie Keane and Berbatov - two big players. It was difficult for him because he wanted to play more minutes.

"He had one year left on his contract, the club had the possibility to sell and the business was good - so the club decided to sell him. Do I regret selling him? That is football. We accept the decision."
