Tottenham boss Pochettino: Sunderland have something to prove

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admits Sunderland will have something to prove today.

Unbeaten in the Premier League, Tottenham are nevertheless looking to bounce back from defeat in their Champions League opener against Monaco on Wednesday night.

Sunderland, meanwhile, suffered a 3-0 home loss at the hands of Everton on Monday night.

“Both teams need a reaction and we need to show more of our qualities," Pochettino told the Spurs website. “I'm focused on our team and we need to show more.

"We expect a very tough game because the Premier League always demands a lot and it's difficult to know exactly what shape they will play, maybe they will change players from their last game against Everton.

“The most important thing is how we take the game and we need to be energetic, aggressive and play in the way we know how to play.

"We have to do what we know we have to do."
