Tottenham boss Pochettino now Real Madrid priority to replace Zidane

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is emerging as Real Madrid's No1 choice to succeed Zinedine Zidane.

Real coach Zidane is under huge pressure to keep of his job, despite Sunday's return to form for their 7-1 thrashing of Deportivo La Coruna.

Sport says Zidane has been contacted directly by PSG about returning to France this summer - an approach which has not been discouraged by Real president Florentino Perez.

Perez is now leaning towards breaking ties with Zidane at the end of the season and has begun sending out feelers for potential successors.

And top of the pile is Pochettino, who has impressed Perez with his style of football and commitment to youth. One of the president's complaints about Zidane is that he is reluctant to back the young players brought to Real over the past 18 months including Theo Hernandez, Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio.
