Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino insists it was he who launched Harry Kane's career.
Pochettino's Tottenham predecessor Tim Sherwood, no in charge of Aston Villa, has been credited for handing rookie striker Kane his big break last season.
But Pochettino said: "When you play like the way Harry performs now, a lot of people are involved in his development.
"All the people around him from the beginning had an influence - it's not only me. It's my philosophy to believe in the young talent.
"Harry is not the finished product. He can improve a lot. When you are 21, often you think you know it all.
"But you can improve. With experience, you learn that and you can improve every day no matter how old you are.
"How he got to this point? Because he worked hard."
