Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is convinced the appointment of former Southampton head of recruitment Paul Mitchell can be a game-changers for the club.
Mitchell will join Spurs imminently after handing in his notice at Southampton. He will be asked to help make better signings for the first team but also to cast the net wider when seeking teenagers for the club's development sides.
The London Evening Standard says Pochettino takes a close interest in every level of the club and that he thinks Spurs could do better at identifying future talent, particularly from abroad.
During interviews for the manager's job, it is thought the Argentine's ideas about young players impressed chairman Daniel Levy greatly and were one of the reasons he won the race for the post.
