Harry Redknapp says David Beckham would be 'welcomed with open arms' if he wanted to come to Tottenham. There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the LA Galaxy star in recent days with reports suggesting QPR were on his trail but Tottenham have now revealed they are keen.
Redknapp, who had the former Manchester United and England midfielder train with Spurs in January, has made it clear that he feels Beckham is still capable of playing in the Premier League and would quit happily take him in at White Hart Lane if he wanted a move once he is out of contract at the Galaxy (after the 2011 season).
"If David wants to come to Tottenham I'd welcome him with open arms," Redknapp told The Sun.
"He's definitely still good enough to play in the Premier League.
"His game was never about pace so whether he's quick or not isn't an issue.
"David's unique quality is his use of the ball and his ability to pick out a player with a pinpoint pass. He is unbelievable and still an exceptional talent.
"I know firsthand because we had him here last winter and he was terrific around the place. You couldn't find a nicer fella and a better professional.
"He's the best example there is for any young player, how he looks after himself, how he trains and how he's stayed an ordinary guy despite his extraordinary success.
"He is worth his weight in gold, he'd be an asset for any club. I'd have him here, that's for sure.
"He wouldn't be able to play until the January transfer window opens, though, because we've already lodged our 25 players with the Premier League. But he'd be a great one to have around the club again."
