Tottenham are preparing a bid for Basel winger Mohamed Salah.

The Daily Star says Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas sent scouts to watch the winger in action for the Swiss side during their Champions League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Basel striker Marco Streller scored the winner from a corner after Salah had equalised following Oscar's first-half opener.

Salah first appeared on the former Porto man's radar after he excelled in both legs when Basel knocked the north London outfit out of the Europa League in the quarter-finals last season.

And the 21-year-old, who is thought to be valued around £15m, still has plenty of time to keep impressing the Tottenham chief before the winter transfer window reopens, as Basel continues their Champions League campaign.
