Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is chasing Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo.
The Daily Star says with Clint Dempsey favoured in a more withdrawn role and Emmanuel Adebayor suffering a string of niggling injuries, there is space in the Spurs squad for another forward.
And Negredo is a player chairman Daniel Levy has previously tried to bring to north London.
The former Real Madrid star, 27, has been in hot form for Sevilla this season, netting six goals in just nine games.
But Spurs will have to dig deep for the Spain international, with the La Liga side likely to demand a fee of around £20million for the hit-man.
