Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas plans to play Emmanuel Adebayor against Newcastle United.

Adebayor only flew in yesterday - too late for an afternoon training session he had been expected to attend.

But Spurs boss AVB said Adebayor's influence in the dressing room is massive.

He said: "He's a strong character, he is fun to be around and a competitive player. The manager's impact in the running of a game can be minimal.

"In those situations you need players to inspire. This is what impact Ade can have."
