Tottenham blow as Bentaleb set to miss six

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a late-season blow with news that Nabil Bentaleb is set to be sidelined for up to six weeks.

The 21-year-old Algerian midfielder has undergone surgery on his left knee after sustaining an injury in an U21s match against Leicester City on Friday.

The North London club suggest that Bentaleb will be back in training before season's end which could see him return for the final two league matches of the season.

Tottenham's Twitter page read: "INJURY UPDATE: We can confirm that @nabilbentaleb42 has today undergone surgery to his left knee.

"The expected recovery and rehabilitation is likely to see him return to training in approximately six weeks."

Bentaleb has made just 11 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino's side having spent three months out with an ankle injury suffered in August.
