Tottenham are attempting to hijack Liverpool's deal for Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
The Daily Mail says Tottenham are making a last-ditch effort to tempt Friedel into joining them ahead of Liverpool.
The Aston Villa keeper, 40, has a two-year contract on offer at Liverpool, but Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp wants the American to battle Carlo Cudicini and Heurelho Gomes.
Cudicini agreed a one-year extension on Wednesday while Gomes is a target for his old club PSV, though the Dutch club may struggle to raise the funds to buy him.
Pepe Reina is established at Liverpool and a move there would end Friedel's Premier League record of 275 consecutive games.
West Bromwich Albion have also made Friedel an offer while Aston Villa have offered a bonus-led deal.
