Tottenham have approached Manchester United for Alexander Buttner.
The Daily Mail says Tottenham asked about taking Buttner on loan but United are not keen to do their rivals any favours.
Buttner is available but a move abroad is more likely.
A move to Italy has been mooted, where AS Roma and Genoa are keen.
