Tottenham alerted as James ponders Portsmouth departure

David James is being linked with a move away from Portsmouth.

The Daily Mail says James looks set to be the next high-profile player on his way out of Portsmouth as the future of the club hangs in the balance.

The Fratton Park outfit, who lost their opening-day game to Fulham, have sold £80million-worth of players, including Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch, in the past year.

And the England No 1, who is being monitored by Tottenham, has expressed his concerns over the saga of Sulaiman Al Fahim's proposed takeover despite assurances from the Arab businessman that his £60m buyout is still on track.

There is a growing feeling that James's loyalty could be stretched to breaking point.

Spurs would be tempted to move for James if Carlo Cudicini could be off-loaded.
