Tottenham agree deal for Brazilian star Sandro

Tottenham and Internacional have reportedly agreed a deal for Brazilian defensive midfielder Sandro.

Spurs have been tracking the 21-year old for some time now and it seems almost certain that they will get their man after according to a statement on the club's official website.

"We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Internacional for the transfer of Sandro to the club, subject to the player passing a medical examination," it reads.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp confirmed that the deal was being sorted and was excited about the prospect of having the capped Brazil international at White Hart Lane.

"It would be fantastic," said Redknapp.

"The chairman has been dealing with it. I got a phone call from the chairman saying that he thought we were close to doing it.

"Hopefully it will get done now and it will be a good signing.

"He is an outstanding young player. He is on the verge of the Brazilian team. He has already played for Brazil and captained the Under-18s, 19s and 21s.

"He is strong. He looks a very, very good player so I am looking forward to getting him here."
