Gareth Bale was pleased with the performance of the Welsh team as they defeated Austria 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Tottenham star opened the scoring for the Dragons before providing a second goal for Sam Vokes before Marc Janko grabbed a late consolation for the visitors and he was thrilled with a solid showing despite it being a friendly.
"We know it's a friendly match but we want to take it serious," Bale told Sky Sports 2.
"We spoke about it before the game, yes it's important to get victories at home and I think it will give us a lot more confidence going into the qualifiers.
"It was good to get out [and play], it's midweek so obviously it is difficult with weekend games coming up, but it was great to get out there, great to get a goal especially a win for the whole nation.
"I think you can't really rely on one goal these days so obviously it was great to get the second goal and the lads have done well to see it out at the end."
