Former Real Madrid and Wales coach John Toshack is baffled by the treatment of Gareth Bale.

Toshack spoke with El Confidencial about Bale's performance in their Champions League defeat at Juventus.

"I saw Juventus-Real Madrid and he hardly touched the ball," said Toshack.

"The last position in which I see Bale is the far right. Gareth is a born left wing-back and was going up and up ... A perfect winger for these times. He is very fast, works well and has plenty of quality with that left foot.

"I do not know what is happening. I do not think he should be playing on the right."

He added: "What is clear is that Madrid is not getting the best from Bale."
