Torres on target as Liverpool win at last

Liverpool won for only the second time in the league as they defeated a battling Blackburn Rovers side 2-1 at Anfield. Three goals in five second half minutes brought this game to life after Liverpool dominated but seemed unable to find a way through Rovers rearguard.

Sotirios Kyrgiakos gave the Reds the lead on 48 minutes, powering in a header from a corner.

Within two minutes the visitor's had equalised when El-Hadji Diouf caused confusion in the Reds defence and Jamie Carragher put through his own goal.

But on 53 minutes Fernando Torres scored his first goal since August to earn Liverpool three points, although they remain in the relegation places just behind Blackburn.
