Roberto Di Matteo has indicated that Fernando Torres has not become over-confident after his two-goal performance on the weekend.

The Spaniard scored his first goals since October as the Blues defeated Leicester City 5-2 in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday and Di Matteo has revealed that he was normal leading up to the match and has remained that way since.

"Fernando was fine before the weekend. He was just getting on normally with his work and his football but of course he is happy at the moment," Di Matteo said.

"I'm not surprised confidence is so big a factor because they are human beings before are professional footballers.

"They need to feel they can express their quality on the pitch. That's what matters most. I'm glad that we seem to be able to get players to play at best level and hopefully it's going to go on like this."
