Torres told liverpoolfc.tv: "I'm very pleased to have scored my first goal. I'm happy with that and with the victory for the team. I hope that it will be the first of many.
Torres' breakthrough goal came after he latched onto a clever pass from Yossi Benayoun before clipping the ball over the advancing 'keeper, and he admits his adaptation to life at Anfield is being made easier by the quality of players at the club.
"It's good with my teammates," he added. "I'm enjoying everything about this great club and with the great players it has I can learn a lot and have been since my very first day. It's all new for me but I'm learning more and adapting to playing in the team.
"Some things are made easier in one way because everyone is doing everything they can and everything possible in order for me to adapt and settle in quickly. It's the same both on and off the pitch, they are all supporting me and giving me a hand and I'm so lucky because with people like that it's much easier."
The Spaniard added: "The truth is I'm so happy that I came here. Every day that goes by I'm learning more and more about the special story and history of this great club and how much it means to the fans. They are so passionate and have high expectations, so obviously I want to give everything I can to live up to those expectations.
"I can promise to give everything. This is one of the greatest clubs in the world and I want to learn and I want to win. It will without doubt take a lot of work but I will do everything that I can."
