Juan Mata acknowledges that Fernando Torres helped get him to Chelsea but has made it clear that there are plenty of other quality players at the club. It has been suggested that the 23-year old winger was bought from Valencia to coax goals out of Torres, who has scored just once since his arrival from Liverpool in January, but Mata was quick to point out that there are loads of other top players at Stamford Bridge and says that he is just trying to do his best and not give out specialist treatment to a striker seemingly out of form.
"My aim is to give as much as I can to the game," he said.
"There are a lot of big, talented players here. As well as Fernando Torres, there are at least 20 more.
"I'm just one more player willing to give as much as I can when the coach puts me out there on the field."
He added: "I did talk to him about this and he was the one who encouraged me to come.
"He said this would be an excellent experience for me to play as part of a bigger team and a team which has excellent facilities, an excellent manager and excellent qualities overall."
