Torquay unhappy with state of Crewe's 'plough field' pitch

Torquay boss Paul Buckle felt his side's 3-3 draw with Crewe provided an exciting game but reserved criticism for the Gresty Road playing surface. Eunan O'Kane gave the Gulls a 3-1 lead midway through the second half, but a late brace from Ashley Westwood meant the match finished all square.

"What an entertaining game that was," said Buckle. "Once again we proved real value for money.

"There were chances at both ends and there was no holding back from either team.

"But I was very disappointed with the pitch - it certainly wasn't fit for League Two.

"We couldn't play our usual passing game and in places it looked like a plough field."
