Torquay intend to name their new stand at Plainmoor, 'Bristow's Bench' in honour of the late Paul Bristow. Former vice-chairman Bristow, a lifelong supporter, died last year having invested large amounts of money into the League Two club following his lottery win, and wife Thea - who remains on the club's board - feels the stand's name represents her husband's sense of humour.
"Paul would love to know he had been benched," she told the club's official website.
"We mulled over all the possibilities for naming the grandstand and decided against the formal option of the Paul Bristow Memorial Stand.
"I know Bristow's Bench will be shortened over time and I hope the Yellow Army are cheering on the Gulls from the Bench or Bristow's for many years to come."
