Toronto FC head coach Ryan Nelsen was not at all surprised when his side managed to arrest an 11-game winless streak on the weekend.
The Canadian outfit came from a goal down to beat DC United 2-1 in Washington, making it their first MLS victory since early March, with an unassuming Nelsen welcoming the much-needed lot of three points.
"The performances had been there and we just had not been the getting the end product in points," Nelsen told MLSsoccer.com. "I think it was a really professional performance today, and the players deserved the three points."
Former DC, Blackburn Rovers, QPR, Tottenham and New Zealand defender Nelsen added that he hopes this triumph can begin to instill a winning culture at the club.
"We have to learn how to win at this club," Nelsen added. "Sometimes it hurts before it gets better.
"We saw it out very well today. The defenders stepped up when they needed to and the midfielders were brilliant today in controlling the midfield.
"Everybody needs to get better as individuals and as a team. We'll be working relentlessly to make Toronto FC a consistent winner in this league."
