Toronto's Dike on target as Nigeria holds Italy

Bright Dike opened his international scoring account for Nigeria on Monday night.

The 26-year old Oklahoma-born forward, who joined Toronto FC from Portland Timbers in September, scored the Super Eagles' first goal in their eventual 2-2 draw with Italy in a friendly at Craven Cottage in London.

After Giuseppe Rossi gave the Azzurri a 12th-minute lead, Dike levelled when he got on the end of Shola Ameobi's cross to powerfully head home in the 35th minute.

Nigeria took the lead when Ameobi turned scorer four minutes later but Emanuel Giaccherini spared the blushes of the Italians by netting an equalizer two minutes into the second half.

The goal was Dike's first official goal for Nigeria after scoring in a friendly against non-FIFA side Catalonia in January.
