Toronto FC star Jermain Defoe says his former Tottenham teammates have welcomed the appointment of manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Defoe spoke to his former team-mates ahead of tonight's friendly against Toronto and he has revealed they have been hugely impressed by their new manager.
"Speaking to the lads, they love him already," said Defoe. "They say training is really sharp, with a lot of pressing.
"With the players they have got at Tottenham, and with that manager, I think they will do well."
The 42-year-old Pochettino has signed a five-year contract and Defoe believes he will be given time to bring success to White Hart Lane.
"There have been a lot of managers come and go but I think this one is there to stay," he said.
