Toronto FC sign ex-Chateauroux defender Eddy Viator

Toronto FC have signed Guadeloupe international defender Eddy Viator.

The 29-year-old had been training with the MLS club for a week.

"We were impressed with what Eddy showed us in training and we want to continue adding depth in this position," Toronto FC coach Aron Winter said.

"We watched him during the Gold Cup earlier this summer and like his versatility. He can play both right back and centre back."

Viator joins TFC newcomers Torsten Frings, Danny Koevermens, Terry Dunfield, Ryan Johnson, Leandre Griffit and Andy Iro.

Born in Colombes, France, Viator has played for Chateauroux, Grenade and Amiens SC in France.
