Toronto FC to keep close eye on Santos Laguna ace Gomez

Herculez Gomez is back in Toronto as Santos Laguna get set for their CONCACAF Champions League clash with Toronto FC.

The USA international scored three goals in the semi-finals against the Reds earlier this year before they lost the CCL final to Monterrey and now he is back to haunt the MLS club once again.

He posted on Twitter: "Just landed in Toronto. Did ya miss me?"

Surely this will add some fuel to the fire as Toronto strive to overcome the 6-2 second leg loss in April but TFC head coach Paul Mariner is remaining calm about trying to keep Gomez quiet.

"Gomez up front was a thorn last year against us. He's a very, very good player," Mariner said.

"They've been together a long time and they've got some very experienced international players who have played an enormous number of games at a high level."

Toronto host Santos in Group 1 of the 2012/13 CCL campaign at BMO Field on Tuesday night following their 5-1 opening match win over Aguila earlier this month.
