Toronto FC GM Kevin Payne says a deal for Newell's Old Boys striker Max Urruti is close.
Payne also revealed plans to bring in a Designated Player signing for coach Ryan Nelsen.
“We have stayed very closely in contact with him (Urruti),” Payne told the Toronto Sun.
“We expect to be able to add Urruti but under a different designation … If we can get Urruti done then I’m hoping we can sign one full DP.
“(The DP) could be a guy that’s very well known, or another that’s not as well known, but very accomplished out of South America. We could be adding several players, but it’s not like it’s going to be half a dozen. What we’re adding is very high quality.”
