Toronto FC's Designated Player, Mista, was unhappy at being hooked at half-time of Saturday's loss to New York Red Bull.
Head coach Preki decided to substitute the Spaniard after 45 minutes and he then did not return to the bench when play resumed in the second half.
A Toronto official confirmed on the day that Mista was 'showering' when asked if the player was injured and Preki also revealed that the substitution was a tactical ploy and not because the former Deportivo la Coruna man had hurt himself.
It is also believed that Mista will not make the trip to Panama for the CONCACAF Champions League clash with Arabe Unido on Tuesday.
