Toronto FC coach Paul Mariner has paid tribute to David Beckham.

The Manchester United and Real Madrid legend will make his final appearance for LA Galaxy in today's MLS Cup final.

"He absolutely paved the way for some fantastic players coming into this league," said Mariner.

"He put the league on the map, not only here, but worldwide.

"His impact was immediate and it was massive."
