Toronto FC manager Mo Johnston is thrilled with their capture of former Houston Dynamo star Dwayne De Rosario. "I think he fits in perfect," Johnston told the Globe & Mail. "He can play in the middle. He can play up front, he can play out wide. He's a tremendous acquisition for us. I think he's a hell of a player and we're getting him at a very, very good time at age 30.
"Adding De Rosario is another piece of the puzzle.
"We've got a few [three in the first round in 2009] draft picks that we've protected and we can utilize them, maybe trading them, maybe picking somebody up [with one of the picks]. Then, we still have allocation money to spend. So we're in very good shape."
Johnston talked about the patience in building a solid team.
"A lot of people don't see the patience that we've showed," he said. "It would have been so easy to let a lot of our allocation go and we could have let the draft picks go, but we were patient."
