Toronto FC boss Preki thanks parents during Hall of Fame induction

Current Toronto FC coach and former USA national team midfielder Preki Radosavljevic was quick to thank his parents during his US Soccer Hall of Fame induction acceptance speech.

The 47-year old Yugoslavian-born American was added to the USA's Hall of Fame on the weekend and said a lot of his success was thanks to his family.

"I had special parents that dedicated everything and gave me this opportunity," he said. "They put me in the right path in my life and I'll never forget that. I wish my mom was here, but she passed away. She would be really proud to see what I am.

"For my dad - because of the age - it was real difficult to get him here, but I know they're proud and I know my mom is watching from some place and she's proud of me."

Preki added that it was a great honour to become an American Hall of Fame inductee after being given a great chance to represent his adopted country.

"It's meant a lot. This country gave me an opportunity and the thing is you see a lot of times people get an opportunity, but you have to really want it and really embrace that opportunity and go after it," he added. "I feel like I really wanted it and I went after it, and I guess people respected my work and what I've done and that's why I'm here."
