Paul Mariner spoke highly of Toronto FC striker Danny Koevermans after he scored a double in the clubs 3-3 draw at Houston Dynamo on Wednesday night.
The Dutchman missed some gilt-edged chances in Toronto's 2-0 loss to Sporting Kansas City on the weekend but turned that performance around to net twice in the first half as the Reds grabbed their first point on the road this campaign.
Koevermans has now scored five league goals (of Toronto's 11) this season and head coach Mariners was thrilled to see him bounce back.
"But it's like that. Being an old striker myself sometimes it goes like that for you. You just have a bit of an off day or the defense does particularly well. But he was terrific tonight. I thought Ryan Johnson and himself were terrific as were all the players.""I felt sorry for him on Saturday because he had his chances," Mariner told MLSsoccer.com. "He was bitterly disappointed that he didn't take any of his chances.
