Toronto FC signed defender Demitrius Omphroy, the Major League Soccer club announced on Wednesday.
Omphroy was selected in the second round of the 2011 draft by TFC.
"I want quality defenders and that's why I took Demitrius in the SuperDraft," Toronto FC coach Aron Winter said. "He is one of the players that I saw at the MLS Combine, and he was on my ranking list and he performed well in preseason."
The 21-year-old spent four years at the University of California. Omphroy also trained with Sporting Club de Portugal Juniores in Portugal. He has also played for the United States U-15,U-16, and U-18 national teams.
